Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated that last night, around 12:50 a.m., on Omladinskih Brigada Street in New Belgrade, there was a collision between two cars, an “Audi” and a “Hyundai,” in which three people lost their lives.
“The driver of the ‘Audi,’ N. Đ. (born 2001), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of serious acts against public traffic safety. It was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.17‰.
The family traveling in the ‘Hyundai’—a man (born 1982), a woman (born 1987), and a child (born 2016)—died in the crash, while the passenger from the ‘Audi’ was transported to the Emergency Center.
N. Đ. will be held in custody for up to 48 hours and, along with a criminal complaint, will be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office.
“I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and emphasize that we will continue with the strictest controls and sanctions against all those who, through reckless and irresponsible driving, endanger the lives of citizens,” stated Dačić.
