Serbian basketball player Nikola Jokić spoke about Nikola Topić after Denver’s victory over Boston.
Nikola Jokić was once again the central figure in Denver’s 103:84 win over Boston.
The Serbian star finished the game with 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, leading his team to an important victory.
After the game, Jokić emphasized to the American media that the key to the triumph was the defensive approach.
“It was a tough game. They are a good team, a good defensive team. They can attack you through multiple options, multiple actions and I think we did a good job today. We usually win with offense, but today we won with defense. I liked the aggressiveness in defense the most. In the third quarter we made four fouls in two minutes and somehow set the tone for the rest of the game, for the rest of the half.”
He stressed that the energy of the entire team was at a high level, especially in a situation when Jamal Murray, due to illness, could not play more than seven minutes, so the organization of the game was taken over by Bruce Brown.
“They were good, Cameron Johnson, both of them had really good energy. I think Spencer also played very well. The team had a good momentum. When we play like that, when we play tough and with energy, we always give ourselves a chance to win.”
Jokić also referred to the upcoming duel, in which Denver will play against Oklahoma, and touched on Nikola Topić’s return to the court after a difficult battle and victory over testicular cancer. The Serbian center did not hide his emotions.
“Yes, of course I’m glad we’ll see each other. I played with him. We didn’t play together for long. He was with the national team and he’s really a good guy. Very talented. He is the future of Serbian basketball. He fought something that is the most important and he won,” said Nikola Jokić.
