The Montenegrin Police Directorate has issued a warning to the citizens of Bijelo Polje, especially the residents of the village of Sokolac, to exercise caution, remain in their homes, and deny entry to any unknown persons. This dramatic warning comes after a horrific murder that has shocked this small community.
According to unofficial information from Vijesti, the murderer is a repeat offender.
According to the same information, the police are searching for the perpetrator.
The Police Directorate reported that around 9:10 pm, the Bijelo Polje police were notified that two elderly individuals had been killed in the hamlet of Sokolac near Tomaševo, and that the armed perpetrator had fled the scene.
“All available police units from the Northern Regional Security Center, the Anti-Terrorist Unit, police dogs, and the helicopter unit of the Ministry of the Interior and the Montenegrin Army have been deployed and are undertaking intensive activities to locate and apprehend this person,” the Directorate stated.
They appealed to the citizens of Bijelo Polje, especially the residents of the aforementioned village, to be cautious, remain in their homes, and deny entry to any unknown persons.
“While the police are taking all actions within their jurisdiction to bring the security situation under control and apprehend the perpetrator, we also appeal to citizens to report any information they believe may be relevant to this incident to the police. The police will provide timely updates on further developments,” the Directorate said.
Vijesti was informed by the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje that the police had informed the on-duty prosecutor, Vanja Rakonjac, of the double murder in Sokolac.
“Police officers are securing the crime scene and are intensively searching for the perpetrator,” Ljubica Caković, Public Relations Officer of the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje, told Vijesti.
