U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that there is “no chance” that potential American military strikes against Iran would lead to a prolonged war in the Middle East.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Vance said that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering various options — ranging from military strikes aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons to a diplomatic solution — but emphasized that the United States will not enter a long-term regional conflict.
“The idea that we would be stuck in a Middle Eastern war for years with no end in sight — there is no chance that will happen,” Vance said.

He described himself as a “skeptic of foreign military interventions,” recalling his experience in the Iraq War, but added that the United States should not automatically dismiss every military option because of “mistakes from the past.”
Talks between the United States and Iran resumed Thursday in Geneva without a concrete agreement being reached, while U.S. military presence in the region remains at one of its highest levels in the past two decades, the Washington-based newspaper reported.
Vance also commented on debates within the conservative movement regarding policy toward Israel, stating that open discussion is healthy for the political right.
He additionally referred to an interview conducted by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, describing it as a “good conversation” despite the controversies surrounding it.
