A day after being named in a sexual assault lawsuit involving Sean “Diddy” Combs, music mogul Jay-Z has filed a motion to dismiss the rape lawsuit against him, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, also asked the court to deny the plaintiff’s request to proceed anonymously. The rapper is accused of raping a minor along with Diddy at an after-party of the 2000 MTV VMAs, the documents state.

In his motion to dismiss, Jay-Z accused Texas attorney Tony Buzby of running a “shakedown” operation.
The lawsuit, originally filed in October, was refiled on Sunday in New York by an anonymous accuser alleging that Jay-Z raped her while Combs and “Celebrity B” looked on.

Representatives for Jay-Z did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment. In his motion to dismiss, Jay-Z alleged the victim was part of an “extortion campaign” that was “cynical and calculated to coerce him into paying an exorbitant sum of money – defendant would have to pay X million dollars regardless of the truth, or…”
“When defendant refused to pay and instead took steps to prove his innocence, this unnamed plaintiff and her self-promoting attorney (whose name is splashed across headlines and press conferences under the auspices of her representation) went to extraordinary lengths to thwart his fair defense. But those attempts have failed,” the documents state.
“Since that tactic is irreconcilable with a genuine effort to ascertain the truth or falsity of these allegations – as opposed to an effort to obtain a quick, extortionate resolution – defendant respectfully requests either dismissal of the complaint or disclosure of plaintiff’s identity. It is only fair.”
“Defendant Shawn Carter (known as ‘JAY-Z’) has cultivated an impeccable reputation. He has never been accused of, let alone participated in, any sexual assault.” Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, recently represented Alec Baldwin in his involuntary manslaughter trial.
The “Empire State of Mind” musician has denied the allegations and accused Buzby of extortion in a statement posted on Roc Nation’s X account. “My attorney has received an attempted shakedown, called a demand letter, from an ‘attorney’ named Tony Buzby,” Jay-Z said in a statement posted on Roc Nation’s X account. “He calculated that the nature of these claims and the public scrutiny would cause me to settle.”
