The Israeli military announced that its air forces attacked Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Beirut on Thursday.
“The Intelligence Corps is the primary intelligence body of Hezbollah and is responsible for gathering intelligence on the IDF and the State of Israel,” stated the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Earlier, Hezbollah informed reporters that its media office was the target of the attack in southern Beirut. According to a Lebanese security source speaking to Reuters, the Lebanese army returned fire at Israeli forces for the first time since the conflict began a year ago.
The army’s statement indicated they fired at the “source” of the Israeli attack on their position in the south, where one Lebanese soldier lost his life. This news comes just hours after the army reported another incident in which one soldier was killed and another wounded during an Israeli strike while they were engaged in a Red Cross rescue mission.
