Young Italian Antonio has, through his own personal example, shown that love truly knows no bounds. For one Dušica, he changed his life, country, and even his faith. He converted to Orthodoxy, was baptized, and even received the baptismal name Stefan. He exchanged southern Italy for picturesque Šumadija.
“I don’t even know how to describe it in words, but I truly feel Serbia is my home. Love for Dušica and her country influenced my decision to change my life from the ground up. Of course, I also really love Serbian cuisine. It’s a true rhapsody of flavors. It’s fantastic here. As for food, I love ‘pljeskavice,’ ‘ćevapi,’ homemade ‘pogačica,’ ‘gibanica,’ ‘ajvar,’ ‘kajmak’ – Antonio says honestly and with a smile for RINA.
With much love, effort, and hard work, Dušica and he found their peace and a new life mission in the heart of Šumadija, in the gentle village of Klatičevo near Gornji Milanovac. They transformed the blend of nature, tradition, and warmth into an authentic ethno household that offers more than just ordinary accommodation: a stay in the rhythm of the village, in the silence of nature, and with the sounds of local hospitality.
“We’ve been involved in rural tourism for three years now. I, by the way, finished tourism studies in Novi Sad and a secondary tourism school in Vrnjačka Banja. It has always been my wish to work in tourism and open something of my own,” says Dušica Trajković, the owner of this household.
She adds that the work isn’t easy, but it’s starting to yield serious results.
“After three years, I can say that the number of tourists increases every year. We are especially glad that guests who have already stayed here are returning to us. Most of our visitors are those seeking peace, quiet, and an escape from the city hustle and bustle,” Dušica emphasizes.
Dušica doesn’t hide her gratitude for the support they receive from the municipality of Gornji Milanovac and the state, stressing that it’s an additional incentive for young people to return to the countryside and create something of their own.
“To young people who want to return to the countryside and engage in this business, I would wholeheartedly recommend it. If you do the work with love, then nothing is difficult. My working hours are about five, six hours, and everything gets done when you work with willingness,” she advises.
This household demonstrates that where there is love and faith in an idea, tourism flourishes. Klatičevo is their oasis, and for many, a revelation of peace and an escape from the city rush and stressful daily life.
