The Israeli army released additional details about yesterday’s strikes in which Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said that they had eliminated the supreme leader, which was later confirmed from Iran as well.
It is added that the “air force, guided by precise intelligence data from the military intelligence service and in coordination with Mossad, struck the leadership compound in the heart of Tehran where he was located together with other senior officials.”
The Iranian supreme leader was killed after intelligence services uncovered his movements, U.S. President Donald Trump announced overnight, adding that Khamenei and the other leaders who were killed with him “could not do anything.”
Khamenei had convened a meeting, and the services discovered that it would be held on Saturday morning instead of in the evening, as previously thought. Because of this, the U.S. and Israel rushed the attack. At least four buildings were hit in Khamenei’s compound in central Tehran.
In its statement, the IDF said that Khamenei “promoted extremist ideology against the State of Israel and the entire West” and that he “was the father of the plan to destroy the State of Israel.”
With Khamenei’s death, the IDF stated that it had “closed a historic circle by eliminating the leader of the Iranian terrorist axis.”
