Serbian tennis player Olga Danilović and Austrian Anastasia Potapova have qualified for the second round of the Australian Open in Melbourne in the doubles competition.
At the start of the tournament, Danilović and Potapova defeated Russian Irina Shymanovich and Argentine Solana Sierra with a score of 6:3, 3:6, 6:0 after an hour and 28 minutes of play.
The Serbian-Austrian doubles team decided the first set with a break in the sixth game, then made a break in the very first game at the start of the second set, but the opponents fought back and won that part of the game with two breaks. Danilović and Potapova played the third set brilliantly, did not concede a single break to their rivals, and thus qualified for the second round.
In the next round, they will play against the better doubles team from the duel Su-Wei Hsieh/Jelena Ostapenko – Olivia Gadecki/Desirae Krawczyk.
Olga Danilović previously qualified for the second round in the singles competition as well, after defeating American Venus Williams. Her opponent in the second round will be another American, Coco Gauff.
