Nikola Kalinić, the forward for Crvena Zvezda, spoke after the victory over Žalgiris in the 4th round of the EuroLeague (88:79) about a major problem he is currently facing on a private level.
Kalinić scored three points and had six rebounds, but his greatest contribution during the 27 minutes spent on the court was made in defense.
He was truly excellent, almost perfect, in that segment and is one of the main reasons, with one steal and two blocks, for Zvezda’s victory.
After the match, he felt the need to say something about his problem, and he did so very emotionally.
“I would like to say one thing, to point out a problem that is happening to me. I haven’t seen my daughter for 20 days and I want to point out the problem when a parent misuses institutions, the police, the Center for Social Work, the kindergarten institution. And to call for this topic to start being discussed. It’s a horrible thing,” Kalinić said and continued:
“I am lucky that I can say something publicly and in this way I want to point out a huge problem. All the people who are going through this are certainly not having an easy time. I want to show them support, to encourage them to remain disciplined and to remain positive. To endure all of it and not to do anything stupid. I love you,” Kalinić emotionally concluded.
The former Serbian national team player, together with the red and whites, will play against Real Madrid again in the Belgrade Arena in the 5th round of the EuroLeague (Friday, 7:00 PM).
