The greatest tennis player ever, Novak Đoković, advanced to the Australian Open final after defeating Jannik Sinner 3:6, 6:3, 4:6, 6:4, 6:4 in a spectacular semifinal match.
After an epic battle, Đoković continued to dream his dream and is now just one step away from claiming his 25th Grand Slam trophy of his career in Australia. Many wrote him off before the match and underestimated the heart of a champion, but Novak once again showed his class when it was needed most.
After the match, the Serbian tennis player emotionally summed up his impressions on the court and said:
“To be honest, I’m at a loss for words… I’m experiencing all of this very intensely. Oh my God, where do I begin… This match lasted four hours, you were all here, it reminded me of what Rafa and I played in the 2012 final, when we played for six hours. I think the quality of tennis was high, it’s always so challenging when I play against Jannik. Thank you very much for being here and for enduring until the end. Big respect to him, an exceptional tennis player, he pushed me to those extreme limits and this was a crazy experience,” Novak said at the beginning of his address and then continued:
“Some legends stayed until two o’clock, thank you. I can’t thank you enough for this phenomenal support, you are incredible. I love our passionate relationship. Tonight is one of my best evenings in terms of atmosphere in Melbourne,” added the Serb.
Đoković devoted special words to the crowd in Melbourne, saying that their relationship had always been “passionate,” and that this was “one of, if not the best evening in terms of support” from the spectators.
Novak also reflected on the match between Alcaraz and Zverev.
“I watched that match, I could hardly wait to get out on the court, we tried to match that level. I think you got full value for the money you paid for the ticket, I want 10 percent. No negotiations. I saw Alcaraz after the match, he told me he was sorry for delaying the start of my match. I told him that I’m an old man and that I need to go to bed earlier. I’m looking forward to seeing him in two days.”
In the final, Carlos Alcaraz awaits him…
“It feels like I’ve already won tonight, but I know that in two days I have to play against the world No. 1. I hope I’ll have enough fuel to stay with him, and then let God decide the winner,” said Đoković.
