The body of a 44-year-old woman was found this morning in the Palilula municipality of Niš, and preliminary reports suggest she was murdered. According to unofficial information obtained by Nova.rs, the suspect allegedly shot her while she was turning her car.
The attacker fled the scene and is currently being sought by police. He reportedly fired at the victim at the moment she was turning onto a street in her vehicle.
It is suspected that the victim knew the killer.
According to unofficial reports, at the time of the crime, the woman was driving home after dropping her child off at school.
“It is suspected that the male suspect and the victim knew each other and were allegedly in some form of intimate relationship, but these details are still being verified. Apparently, this morning the attacker was accompanied by another man during the shooting. During an extensive manhunt, the alleged killer has been apprehended, while authorities are still searching for an accomplice and a witness to the crime. The motive for this brutal act is still unknown,” said a well-informed source, adding that the entire city of Niš is blocked as police search for the killer’s accomplice.
“The investigation is ongoing; forensic teams have also arrived at the scene. The attacker reportedly killed the victim in the middle of the street with a handgun,” the source added.
Eyewitnesses claim that a man present at the scene confronted the killer. He allegedly told him: “I don’t want you, run.”
Police are currently securing the scene and not allowing anyone near the crime site.
The investigation is ongoing.
