Lawyer Aleksandar Ivanović, who represents the student Nikolina Sinđelić, today submitted a criminal complaint to the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office against the commander of the Unit for the Security of Certain Persons and Objects, Marko Kričak.
Nikolina Sinđelić stated that by submitting the criminal complaint, she wanted to encourage all students and citizens who suffered police brutality to report the violence.
“I don’t expect the state to react positively, but I hope there are judges and prosecutors who do their job honorably,” said Sinđelić.
Lawyer Aleksandar Ivanović said that they do not expect to see the epilogue of this case in a short period of time because the legal system, as he said, is dedicated to preserving the interests and positions of a small group concentrated in power.
“And in this case, they have already started preparing for such an abuse, so the president informed us that the further course of the investigation will be taken over by the Sector for Internal Control of the MUP, and the superiors to the internal control – the police director and the minister – have already said that everything is fine. We have worked seriously on collecting all the evidence, systematized it into a criminal complaint, and submitted it to the prosecutor’s office. I believe that there are still honorable people in this building who will not turn their heads. And in the final analysis, at one point when the government falls, we will have a criminal complaint in the system and we will ask everyone whose competence it is why they did not prosecute it when it was time,” the lawyer said.
