The attacker from New Belgrade, who inflicted multiple stab wounds on a woman on a building staircase, was arrested today and it was determined that it is Tihomir Krstić (46), who was released from KPZ “Zabela” two months ago.
– When he was caught at the bus stop, when the police officer asked him: “What did you do, man?”, the suspect replied: “I am a drug addict and HIV positive” – claims a witness who was at the bus stop when the police arrested the attacker from New Belgrade.
Tihomir Krstić, a man whose name since yesterday has been synonymous with madness and brutality, was arrested in Rakovica at 5 Pilota Mihajla Petrovića Street, and at the time of arrest he was not wearing the clothes in which he committed the horrific criminal act!
In the meantime, he also shaved, in order to hide his identity.
Horrific attack
Everything began at 199 Arsenija Čarnojevića Boulevard, in a quiet part of New Belgrade. S. Ć. was returning from a walk with her grandchild, unaware that a predator was following her closely. As soon as they stepped into the dark passage of the stairwell, a cowardly attack from behind followed.
While the child screamed in horror, the attacker showed not a shred of mercy. From the force of the first blow, the grandmother fell, hit her head on the concrete, and suffered a pelvic fracture. While she lay motionless, the monster continued to mutilate her with a knife in order to rip away her bag. Our team, which was the first to enter the building, found the staircase soaked in blood, a horrific reminder of one woman’s fight for life.
Did the knife break on the bones?
Details of the injuries that arrived this morning from the Emergency Center confirm that Krstić acted with incomprehensible aggression. According to official data, the unfortunate woman suffered as many as seven stab wounds, each of which was potentially fatal.
However, what shocked even the most experienced investigators was the force with which the attacker swung. S. Ć. was found to have fractures of the shoulder blade and ribs caused directly by stabs and blows. Unofficially, the knife blade broke during the attack, and the thick winter jacket the victim was wearing is the only reason why the blade did not penetrate even deeper into the heart and lungs.
The police found the weapon that the suspect used in the crime, and it is a knife with a blade as long as 11 centimeters and a plastic handle.
How the fugitive was located
After the crime, the attacker fled toward Zvezdara, where he was spotted last night wearing a gray hoodie and a black vest. The police immediately activated all resources, and citizens, through social networks and tips, helped reconstruct the escape route.
The drama culminated on Šumatovačka Street in Vračar. Intervention Unit 92 blocked the entire neighborhood, suspecting that the fugitive had hidden in one of the abandoned houses. Around morning, T. K. was cornered and taken into custody without the possibility of offering resistance.
