Investigators in North Macedonia are working to shed light on several murders in the Kumanovo region, and the police suspect that it is a single perpetrator – a serial killer, who has been arrested.

The case of a possible serial killer was discovered after the arrest of 25-year-old T. B., suspected of murdering the latest victim, for whom the prosecution determined that she did not die of natural causes, but of a violent death.

According to the Kumanovo police, on February 12, the suspect entered the house of a 78-year-old woman, physically attacked her, and suffocated her with a pillow in her home.

An eighty-three-year-old woman, who lived three houses away, also almost became a victim of the same man, but she saved herself by calling out for her son, acting as if he were in the house.

According to Telma television, the deaths of a total of five women found dead in their homes are being investigated – three this year and two last year. What they all have in common is that they died alone at home. Only one of those found was younger.

“Due to the similarities in the choice of victims and the cruel manner of committing the crimes, it is being investigated whether these cases involve murders committed by the same perpetrator. An exhumation and autopsy have been ordered for one of the potential victims, and traces and DNA were collected from the body of the deceased woman and are being analyzed,” stated the Macedonian prosecution.

The prosecution also ordered that a team of experts, forensic psychiatrists from the Institute of Psychiatry in Skopje, examine the suspect.

According to residents of surrounding villages, the suspect had difficulties with speech and communication with his environment.

The Center for Social Work states that he was not registered as a beneficiary of any rights. He lived with his mother and stepfather in a large family in the village, not far from the village where some of the victims were found.
