A photo of the vehicle in which Tatjana Ječmenica was traveling has emerged, showing a truly horrific scene.

In a severe traffic accident on the bypass near the Orlovača interchange, in the direction of Ostružnica, former Serbian tennis player Tatjana Ječmenica was killed.

A truck and an SUV collided, and Ječmenica died at the scene, while her husband, Darko Jevtić, was left in critical condition in an induced coma with life-threatening injuries.

The accident has shocked the entire country, and now a disturbing photo of the completely destroyed vehicle in which Tatjana Ječmenica was traveling has surfaced.

Journalist Mladen Mijatović published images of the wrecked car, which the former Serbian tennis player was allegedly driving.

What caused the fatal accident? Tatjana was reportedly driving the car, missed an exit, and then attempted to reverse when the truck collided with them. However, judging by the photo, it is possible that she continued driving without realizing she was going the wrong way when the truck struck her vehicle.

Regardless, the accident has deeply affected all of Serbia, and authorities continue to investigate exactly what happened.

Tatjana Ječmenica’s husband, Darko Jevtić, who was in the vehicle, remains in critical condition in an induced coma.

Who Was Tatjana Ječmenica?

Tatjana Ječmenica was born on July 4, 1978, in Novi Sad. She was a professional Serbian tennis player and later the Fed Cup captain for Serbia and Montenegro, and Serbia.

During her tennis career, she won six ITF singles titles and three doubles titles. She did not win any WTA tournaments. She competed in all four Grand Slam events, with her best result being the second round at Roland Garros in 1996. Her highest WTA rankings were 72 in singles and 84 in doubles, both in 1996. She also represented Yugoslavia in the Fed Cup.

She is survived by her husband, Darko Jevtić, currently in critical condition after the accident, and their son, Aleksa.
