A 30-year-old man from a Chicago suburb was arrested after first running over his father with a car and then cold-bloodedly killing him in nearby Forest View, authorities said on Friday.
Hasan Alvan from the town of Justice, Cook County, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his father, Amin Alvan (58) of Burbank, the Forest View Police Department said in a public statement.
The shooting occurred at around 5:37 p.m. on Thursday, when Forest View police responded to a report of gunshots and a man lying on the ground near the Synergy Logistics company. When officers arrived, they found Amin Alvan unconscious and bleeding from the face after apparently being struck by a bullet.
Officers immediately began resuscitation efforts, but the 58-year-old died at the scene. Following an investigation, Forest View police and the WESTAF Major Crimes Task Force identified Hasan Alvan as the suspect, after which he was taken into custody.
A preliminary hearing to determine detention has been scheduled.
