The extra-trial chamber of the Higher Court in Novi Sad has made a decision to suspend the proceedings against Goran Vesić, Jelena Tanasković, and Anita Dimoski in the case of the collapse of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad.
They were charged with a criminal offense – a serious act against causing general danger.
The proceeding is also being suspended against Milan Spremić, Marina Gavrilović, and Dejan Todorović, who were charged with a serious act against general safety in connection with the improper and irregular execution of construction works.
The chamber considers that there is not enough evidence for the suspicion that the defendants committed the criminal acts they were charged with.
The measure of prohibition on leaving the apartment has been abolished for Tanasković, Spremić, Gavrilović, and Todorović, while Dimoski and Vesić remain under house arrest according to the decision of the Higher Court in Belgrade.
The indictment has been confirmed against Nebojša Šurlan, Slobodan Naumović, Milan Jelkić, Ljiljana Milić Marković, Jasna Stojiljković Milić, Zorica Slavković Marjanović, and Dušan Janković.
“Having in mind the stated evidence, from which the previously mentioned conclusion follows, the court has assessed that there are grounds for suspicion that the defendants acted contrary to regulations, and that there were failures in the execution of works, maintenance of the facility, and supervision, which ultimately led to the consequences that are the subject of the accusation,” the decision states.
This refers to the case regarding the collapse of the canopy from the renovated building of the Railway Station in Novi Sad, when 16 people died on November 1st of last year.
