Aleksandar Jovanov, a humanitarian who walked across Serbia on crutches with students, is a participant in a large humanitarian walk currently taking place with the aim of raising aid for Katarina Kaća Dragaš.
The humanitarian route began in Vrnjačka Banja, and the participants Aleksandar Jovanov and Nina Rađenović are walking through several cities: Kruševac, Paraćin, Jagodina, Kragujevac, Rača, Smederevska Palanka, Smederevo, Požarevac, and Bela Crkva. The walk is scheduled to end on November 30 in Vršac.
Aleksandar sends a strong call to his fellow citizens from Zrenjanin to come to Vršac on the last day of the action and provide support:
“I invite all our citizens of Zrenjanin to join us in Vršac and help our fellow citizen Kaća Dragaš. I believe that everyone can spare a little time and come.”
Katarina urgently needs a wireless pacemaker implanted in Turkey, which costs 40,000 euros. Aleksandar believes that with the help of people of good will, the necessary funds will be raised during the walk. Kaća, he says, will greet the participants of the action in Vršac together with her family.
Aleksandar and Nina are currently on the fourth day of their journey, on the route towards Kragujevac, where about 40 kilometers of walking awaits them. The journey was not without difficulties — on the second day in Paraćin, due to a problem, Aleksandar had to have a tooth pulled, but despite this, he did not give up:
“It’s not easy, it’s cold, the conditions are difficult, and the mileage is great. But we are moving forward.”
For Aleksandar, this mission is personal: Kaća is his school friend from primary school, and both come from Taraš. Because of this, he says, he decided to do everything he could.
He also issued an appeal to all citizens:
“Please send an SMS message 390 to 3800. One message means a lot. I believe that everyone can send at least one, and with that, we would send Kaća for surgery very quickly.”
