The funeral of Chicago firefighter and paramedic Michael Altman has been postponed due to the childbirth of his wife, Fox32 Chicago reports.

Officials announced that the funeral, which had been scheduled for Friday, will be moved to a later date.

Plans for the farewell on Thursday remain unchanged. The visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, located at 7740 South Western Avenue.

The new date of the funeral is not yet known.

Altman (32) died from injuries sustained during a response to a fire in a four-story residential building on Monday in the 1700 block of West North Shore Avenue.

According to earlier reports, Altman fell through the first floor into the basement while firefighters were extinguishing the blaze. Colleagues pulled him out of the building and transported him to Stroger Hospital, where he died Tuesday morning.

Altman was assigned to Truck 47 in the Edgewater neighborhood.
