Shortly after it was installed, the “Belgrade Clock” in the roundabout at Republic Square, which had been pompously announced for months, broke down. Today, there are no hands on it, as confirmed by our reporter, because it has been returned to the seller for servicing. Stefan Simić from the Free Citizens Movement says that this clock is a reflection of the current situation in Belgrade and that the citizens of Belgrade were once again not asked whether they wanted a novelty like this in their city.
“Is there a single thing in the city… As a city councilor in front of the Free Citizens Movement, I looked for something they had done well and could not find it. How is it that something always happens to them? To pave a street and then the asphalt starts to crack? This is what it looks like when the city is led by people who do not know how to lead it,” says Stefan Simić, reports N1.
He states that there are much bigger problems in the city of Belgrade that the city authorities are not dealing with sufficiently.

“As a city councilor, I am worried about many more other things: I talk to citizens who do not have water supply, electricity, heating, their transport does not work so they cannot get to work. Now the center of Belgrade is in focus because of the clock, and before because of the cobblestones. We are not aware of everything that is happening in the surrounding municipalities and how much the quality of life is declining every day,” adds Simić.
Simić also stated that he believes such situations will show citizens why it is time for elections in Belgrade.
“They always carry out works mostly during the day when it is the most crowded, and when they do something badly, specifically when they need to fix it quickly, it is done by workers in the third shift. Then the third shift can work at night, it is not a problem to give night daily wages which are more expensive, just so something does not show how they originally did something badly. The complete situation in Belgrade is very bad, but not to sound like I am only criticizing, I truly believe that this will provide a signal to Belgraders that it is indeed time for elections in Belgrade and that we have a mayor who does not know how to lead this city,” he said.
