Serbs living in Athens organized a rally today in support of students in Serbia, who have been blocking faculties and participating in protests across the country for weeks. The protests were sparked by a tragic incident in Novi Sad, when a canopy collapsed at the railway station, killing 15 people.

In Syntagma Square in Athens, the gathered expressed solidarity with the students and families of the victims, who are demanding justice and accountability for the accident that shocked Serbia.

Those gathered held banners with messages of support. In addition, the flag of the Republic of Serbia was prominent, symbolizing the connection of Serbs from the diaspora with those in their homeland. The gathering was held in a peaceful manner.

At the gathering, a tribute was paid to those who died in Novi Sad. The organizers of the gathering emphasized that it is important for students and the people of Serbia to feel that they are not alone in their efforts to fight for justice. The protests in Serbia have become a symbol of the fight against irresponsibility and the government’s neglect of citizens’ safety, and the solidarity of Serbs in the diaspora has further strengthened this message.
