The junior national team of Serbia in kickboxing won 19 medals at the European Championship in Italy.
The young Serbian kickboxers won six gold, two silver and 11 bronze medals. The national team members of Serbia won medals in all ring disciplines.
The titles of European champions were won by: Nada Krivačević, Maša Damjanović, Maša Vereš Matijević, Sonja Vukšić, Jovana Damjanović in the K1 discipline as well as Muhamed Dupljak in low-kick.
Vanja Grbić and Ana Germek won silver in the K1 discipline, while bronze medals were won by Dominik Šarnjaji, Dušan Žeravić, Mihailo Veljković, Jovan Stevanović, Stevan Sekulić (low-kick), Sergej Lazović, Luka Jergić, Mateja Stojanović, Marija Vujanović, Petar Dinić (K1) and Amir Hamiti (full-contact).
In the general ranking, Serbia won fifth place in the team competition. In the low-kick discipline, the young Serbian kickboxers were second behind the selection of Ukraine, which had a larger number of competitors.
“The championship was of very high quality and very well organized. I am satisfied with all our competitors, because they all really gave their maximum at this moment. They showed great fighting spirit,” said the coach of Serbia Siniša Vladimirović.
“I must emphasize that due to the mistakes of the judges, we were damaged for three finals, and that is the captain of our selection Jovan Stevanović, as well as Mihailo Veljković and Stevan Sekulić. They would have certainly reached for gold, there remains great regret, but it is what it is. It should be noted that these championships are of higher and higher quality every year. All national teams work and invest a lot. Some new selections have also appeared, such as England and Ireland, which won medals in ring disciplines, and these are some novelties,” added Vladimirović.
