During the morning airstrikes on Iran, the building of the Serbian Embassy in Tehran was damaged.
As RTS has learned, there were no injuries.
Allegedly, a military base located near the Serbian Embassy was targeted.
The information was also confirmed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić for Prva TV, adding that the embassy staff began withdrawing to Baku today.
He also stated that planes intended to return Serbian citizens interested in coming back will depart for Dubai and Abu Dhabi as soon as it is safe.
Vučić said that the embassy was not the target, but rather a base in the surrounding area, and that shrapnel damaged the embassy.
The Embassy staff in Tehran will withdraw toward Baku, and efforts are also being made to assist a married couple with a baby in Tehran to evacuate, Vučić added.
He said that the situation in the Gulf countries is being monitored, that the airspace is closed, and that Belgrade will send evacuation planes as soon as possible.
The moment the airspace reopens and it is safe, planes for Dubai and Abu Dhabi will take off and return all citizens who are interested in coming back, the President of Serbia said.
