Veljko Petrović, a student at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, was released from custody tonight and will defend himself while free, his colleagues announced tonight in front of the court in Novi Sad.

They stated that Petrović was given a “prohibition of approaching witnesses, i.e., the dean of the Novi Sad Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Patrik Drid.”

Citizens protested twice today, in the morning and in the afternoon from 5 PM, in front of the Prosecutor’s Office building in Novi Sad, demanding his release.

They stated that “there is no evidence” of the attack on the dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Patrik Drid, which is why they demanded Petrović’s immediate release.

“This is not just a fight for Veljko, but for the right of every citizen not to be detained without grounds,” it was stated in the call for today’s protest.
