U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States had launched “major combat operations” against Iran in an eight-minute video published on the Truth Social platform.
Trump stated that Iran’s “threatening activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our overseas bases, and allies around the world.” He added that the “Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ for 47 years and conducted an uninterrupted campaign of bloodshed.”
He recalled the U.S. embassy crisis between 1979 and 1981, when 66 hostages were held for 444 days, as well as other incidents involving Tehran. Trump described Iran’s actions as “mass terror” and stressed that “we will no longer tolerate it.”
The United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, with powerful explosions reported across the country. Targets included Tehran and other Iranian cities. The attack began at 7:30 a.m. Serbian time.
Trump stated that Iran had been attempting to revive its nuclear program and develop long-range missile systems. He emphasized that the U.S. plans to “destroy their missiles” and “completely eliminate their navy,” noting that measures were taken to avoid civilian casualties, but warning that “American lives could be lost.”
He called on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to “lay down its weapons” or “face certain death.”
Trump also addressed the Iranian people directly: “The hour of your freedom is at your doorstep,” warning that “bombs will fall everywhere.” He added: “When we are finished, take back your government — it will be yours for the taking.”
According to him, “this will likely be your only opportunity after so many generations. For years you have asked America for help but never received it. No president has been willing to do what I am prepared to do tonight.”
