Student Vukašin Đinović was injured last night in Novi Sad when a member of the Gendarmerie, unprovoked, as he says, hit him in the head with a shield.

Đinović came last night to give support to the transporter Milomir Jaćimović.

Vukašin is a student at the Faculty of Science in Novi Sad. His biography is already impressive. He finished elementary school with excellent grades as a recipient of the “Vuk Karadžić” diploma and the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” charter. He finished the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Gymnasium in the section for Gifted Students in the mathematical gymnasium.

He has outstanding achievements in the field of mathematics and physics, he was a four-time vice-champion of the Republican Physics Competition, a silver medalist at the International Junior Science Olympiad, champion of the Serbian Physics Olympiad, and also won bronze at the Balkan Science Olympiad, writes Danas.

How did it happen that the Gendarme hit you in the head with a shield?

“That hit happened before the police action started. At the beginning, they surrounded the bus and guarded it, and the tow service was standing nearby. There was a cordon of Gendarmerie in front of us, and we were all standing, there was no pushing or shoving. A member of the Gendarmerie, unprovoked, hit me in the face with a shield. Blood was dripping from my nose for at least 20 minutes. This was police action that was not provoked by anything. My only ‘sin’ is that I was there to support Jaćimović,” said Đinović.

The police “action” soon began. What did that look like? We saw the Gendarmerie hitting girls with their fists in the head.

“I was there the whole time and all those images that soon followed were horrifying and unprecedented, even though we have encountered various examples of excessive force in the past year of protests. Last night can be described as pure psychopathy, because it was truly horrible. Several of our colleagues were punched and pulled by the hair without any need, they could have just moved the people and pushed the bus through, but no, they wanted to beat us up.”

How is your nose today, did you go to the Emergency Room, and do you plan to report the gendarme who injured you?

“I went to get my nose scanned, fortunately, it’s not a serious injury. I have a hematoma which the doctors say will pass without consequences. The important thing is that nothing is broken. There are those who fared worse. Last night in the Emergency Room, I met a colleague whose head was cut open, he has a wound several centimeters long, and he went for dressing. I am waiting for all the check-ups to be over and to receive all the findings, then I will see with a lawyer how to proceed. I gave a statement to the police in the capacity of the injured party.”

Did that gendarme say anything to you? We heard a police officer shouting, “kill him, kill him,” last night while chasing citizens.

“While we were standing next to the cordon, I noticed that some police officers were smiling, which confirms that they enjoyed everything they did last night. Later I saw those shouts in the video which are horrible in themselves, especially when they are uttered by them. The gendarme who hit me didn’t say anything. But even though they wear masks, they cannot hide their eyes, and enough is visible in them.”

The government still has no intention of backing down?

“With all these images we have seen in the past two weeks after the rally on November 1st, the government’s behavior towards Dijana Hrka, all the things they prepared for her in Ćacilend, and everything they are preparing for Jaćimović, the harassment and torture, with the police escalation, clearly shows that they feel they have lost ground under their feet. We know that every empire is most repressive before its fall. Precisely because they spare no effort now, it will lead to them falling faster. We will certainly continue to fight and they cannot frighten us. We expect elections and we will defeat them there,” said Vukašin.

We are waiting for the elections, we are also waiting for Vučić in Novi Sad. We are waiting for the epilogue. When will all this be resolved?

“I hope as soon as possible, but we are certainly here for as long as it takes. The regime believed that everything would die down with the start of the new school year, just as they have expected many times so far that everything would end. How many times has the ‘colored revolution’ been defeated. Students are here, we are actively working on preparing for the elections, we are going to protests and we are not giving up. As for Vučić coming to Novi Sad, I don’t think he will. He has announced it several times, now for months. His arrival in Novi Sad would cause an unprecedented reaction among the people. That is the humiliation of the victims, and the citizens are not ready to allow him that.”
