Former Polish basketball player Maciej Lampe has found himself at the center of a scandal in his home country after, as he told Serbian Times, he began receiving death threats following media reports about his Instagram posts from Moscow and news of possible collaboration with Russian sports organizations. The news sparked strong reactions within the Polish sports community.

The former NBA player recently visited Russia, where he presented his new project to the Russian Basketball Federation. During his visit, he posted several stories on social media, which immediately triggered attacks from Polish media.

“I presented my new project to the Russian Basketball Federation, they liked it and accepted it. They took photos from my Instagram stories,” Lampe told Serbian Times.

Interpretations of his posts in Poland were highly negative, with some of the public believing that he endangered his reputation at a time when relations between Warsaw and Moscow are very tense.

“They did this to cause me trouble,” Lampe concluded for Serbian Times.

Lampe is currently in Serbia, where he is promoting his new platform and holding meetings with representatives of the domestic basketball community.

It is worth recalling that Maciej Lampe had a rich career, playing in the NBA, Spain, Russia, Turkey, and other countries.
