The president of the municipality of Obrenovac, Milorad Grčić, was arrested by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade on suspicion that, while he was the acting director of JP EPS, he and his associates damaged that public company, it was confirmed for Tanjug.

The arrest operation is still ongoing, and members of the police, in addition to Grčić, have arrested about ten more people.

Milorad Grčić was born on November 14, 1970, and states that he is an economist by profession.

In 1990, Grčić enrolled, as he told the media, in one faculty at the University of Belgrade, but that he “neglected it due to the war and sanctions” and that he finally dropped out in 2005. Then, he claims, he enrolled in Fabus – the Faculty of Service Management at the “Educons” University in Sremska Kamenica.

Grčić was once the owner of a cafe and a barbecue restaurant “Fantazija”.

As for his political career, Grčić appeared in the local elections in Obrenovac in 2008 as the leader of the list of the Citizens’ Association “Snaga Obrenovca – Milorad Grčić”. “Snaga Obrenovca” was then a coalition partner of the Democratic Party, and Grčić was the deputy president of the municipality of Obrenovac.

However, when the Obrenovac board of the SNS and the Citizens’ Association “Snaga Obrenovca” merged, there was a split with the coalition partners – the DS.

Grčić is a member of the Serbian Progressive Party, and at the end of December 2022 he was re-elected as the president of the Municipal Board of the SNS in Obrenovac, while in July 2024 he was also elected as the president of the City Municipality of Obrenovac.

He was appointed acting director of RB “Kolubara” on October 8, 2012. He was in that position until December 2015, when he became the director of the office for socially responsible business in Elektroprivreda Srbije.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce.

The Government of Serbia appointed him as the acting director of EPS on March 15, 2016, until the completion of the competition for the election of the director of that company.

After several breakdowns in EPS, he resigned from his position on January 12, 2022, and two days later the Government of Serbia officially dismissed him from the position of acting director of Elektroprivreda Srbije.
