This girl decided to devote her life to raising goats and producing healthy, homemade products
While young people are leaving villages en masse and heading to big cities, one twenty-year-old girl from Klepani near Ivanjica did exactly the opposite.
Jovana Rajković represents a bright example of what the state advocates for – the return of young people to their hearths and the nurturing of the original values of Serbia as a country of agriculture, livestock, and fruit growing.
Jovana is, probably, the youngest goat herder in Serbia. She decided to dedicate her life to raising goats and producing healthy, homemade products – milk and cheese – with the goal of enriching the market offer and preserving traditional production.
Parallel to working on the farm, she also enrolled in a higher school in the field of marketing, in order to market her products as successfully as possible and develop her own brand.
Her mother Danica had different plans for her daughter, who was an excellent student, but today she does not hide her pride. Love for the village and nature, as she says, is obviously written in the genes.
This young girl does not ask for much, but as she honestly points out, any kind of support would mean a lot to her: additional education in countries that deal with modern goat farming, as well as subsidies that would help her improve production and stay in the village.
