The newly elected Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Hamnei, addressed the public for the first time since assuming leadership of the Islamic Republic. Hamnei’s written speech was read in the Iranian national daily, sending a message of resistance and urging Iranians to maintain character and unity.
“All U.S. bases in the region must be immediately closed, otherwise they will be attacked,” the new Supreme Leader declared in his first statement.
Hamnei added that Iran seeks friendly relations with its neighbors, emphasizing that only U.S. bases are targeted and that attacks on them will continue.
The new leader called for national unity and stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to exert pressure on Iran’s enemies.
“Those responsible for the death of our children will pay,” Hamnei said.
“We will avenge the blood of our martyrs,” he added.

He thanked the Iranian military, saying it prevented the country from being subjugated or divided while under attack.
“I want to thank the brave fighters carrying out a great task at a time when our country is under pressure and assault,” he said.
Hamnei also noted that resistance forces in Yemen “will do their part” and that armed groups in Iraq “also wish to assist” Iran.
The new Supreme Leader promised free medical treatment for all the wounded and stated that the current situation must be resolved with financial compensation for those who suffered losses.
His address comes amid a deep regional crisis and is being closely monitored by both the Iranian public and the international community, which is looking for indications of the new government’s political and military course in Tehran.
Iran is currently in the midst of escalating conflict with Israel and the United States, with ongoing battles and attacks across the region. In recent days, there have been airstrikes, missile attacks, and rising tensions, with many already describing the situation as a regional war.
Mojtaba Hamnei, the son of the long-serving Supreme Leader Ali Hamnei, was elected the new Ayatollah following his father’s death in U.S.-Israeli strikes. The new Ayatollah was also injured in these attacks, and his mother, wife, son, and other family members were killed.
Although he has never held a formal political position, he is considered an influential figure within Iran’s religious-political establishment, with significant influence over the country’s security and political structures.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the election of Mojtaba Hamnei is “unacceptable” for America.
