Residents of Vračar were disturbed this morning by an incident that occurred in the early hours, when an as yet unknown person threw an incendiary device at a well-known hospitality venue, Telegraf.rs has learned.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m.
According to Telegraf’s unofficial information, a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid, better known as a Molotov cocktail, was thrown at the venue. The flames immediately engulfed part of the building, but thanks to the rapid intervention of firefighter-rescuers, the consequences were minimized.
The fire was quickly contained and its spread to surrounding buildings and business premises was prevented, which was crucial given the dense population of this part of the city.
No injuries, police on the scene
Fortunately, at the time of the attack there was no one in the café, so there were no injured persons. An investigation was carried out at the scene, and the police and the competent prosecutor’s office have been notified.
Cameras key evidence?
As we unofficially learn, security cameras from the building and surrounding structures recorded the moment of the attack and the person who threw the incendiary substance. These recordings have already been handed over to the police and are expected to significantly help in the rapid identification and arrest of the perpetrator.
The investigation is ongoing, and the motive for this attack is currently unknown.
