In Barcelona, on Monday, a citizen of Montenegro believed to be close to the Škaljari clan was killed when an attacker fired three shots into his back. He died on the spot, and an investigation has been opened to clarify the motive and the relationship between the victim and the attacker.
According to “El Caso,” the attacker managed to flee the scene, and Mossos d’Esquadra launched an extensive search using police units and a helicopter, but the attacker has not been arrested so far.
Information so far indicates that this is another confrontation between the two clans from Kotor involved in international drug trafficking, writes El Caso.
The victim does not have a criminal record in Spain, writes “El Caso,” and it is believed to be M.M. from Podgorica.
The identity still needs to be confirmed because criminals from the Balkans often use different identities in Catalonia to hide from the police.
Mossos have been warning for months about such violent incidents among foreigners living in Spain who have drug-related conflicts.
Investigators, in cooperation with Montenegrin authorities, will have to clarify who is behind this murder.
This is not the first time that the two Montenegrin clans, Kavač and Škaljari, resolve conflicts with shootings in Catalonia.

How many lives did the murder of Filip Knežević cost?
In the center of Barcelona, on July 15, Filip Knežević (36) was killed. An attacker waited for Knežević to enter the entrance of the building where he lived and shot him at least eight times. Four bullets hit vital spots: three in the back and one in the head. Knežević succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Spanish police are still searching for the attacker.
Spanish media reported that Knežević had several false documents with him, among which was a Croatian passport.
He was very well known to law enforcement: He was an internationally wanted person and a member of the Kavač clan. His record includes involvement in the double murder from 2020 on the Greek island of Corfu, where two Škaljari members – Alan Kožar and Damir Hadžić – were killed.
Montenegrin media reported that fireworks were set off in Podgorica, Kotor, and Cetinje on Tuesday after it was announced that Filip Knežević had been killed, while the head of the Montenegrin police, Lazar Šćepanović, stated that the “initial spark was the murder in Barcelona.”
In a wave of mafia clashes, from mid-July to the beginning of October, seven men were killed while two were seriously wounded in the bloody confrontation between the two Montenegrin clans.
