American businessman of Serbian origin Filip Milivojević is the only Serb who had the honor of being among the rare and privileged guests of U.S. President Donald Trump this year at the traditional Christmas reception (Christmas Party).

In the festively decorated White House this Christmas, an exceptionally small circle of guests gathered, including some of the most influential businessmen from the U.S. and around the world, as well as prominent political figures of the Republican Party.

– President Trump, our host, described this event as a meeting of a “very special group of people,” and it was all accompanied by a very rigorous security protocol, so checks lasted weeks in advance, and various services examined all aspects of the lives of us who were invited. Entering the White House complex itself, which is probably the most famous building on the planet, is a story of its own, Filip Milivojević, a businessman originally from Niš, told Serbian Times.

According to him, the first part of the reception gave guests the opportunity to get acquainted before President Trump joined them.

– The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, left a particularly strong impression on me. I spent some time in a pleasant conversation with him, and he showed great interest in the Serbian community in America. I took the opportunity to tell him that this community overwhelmingly voted for President Trump in the previous elections, Milivojević emphasizes.

And then President Donald Trump came down among the guests from the upper floor of the White House…

– The President greeted everyone present and then delivered a speech. The dominant topics were current political and economic priorities: tightening the approach to immigration policy, discussions about tariffs and trade mechanisms, as well as messages about strengthening the American economy. He particularly emphasized the preservation of family values, as well as the reputation of the United States on the international stage, the American businessman of Serbian origin conveys his impressions.

He adds that the ambiance and atmosphere in the White House left a strong impression on the guests.

– Everything was perfectly organized. Festive decorations, protocol details, and an atmosphere that combines tradition and statesmanlike symbolism. I found it amusing that he placed the picture depicting the assassination attempt on him right next to the entrance doors of the White House. There was also a portrait made of puzzle pieces, a very interesting work.

The gastronomic part of the evening was at the level one would expect — from carefully selected appetizers to main courses and desserts.

– Along with the formal part, the event also served as an opportunity for informal socializing and networking. Among the guests were people who often meet at party gatherings, including those associated with the Republican National Committee. I was the only guest from the Balkans at the reception. I met several acquaintances from previous party events and golf courses, and it was truly an honor to meet some of those people, including RNC Chairman Joe Gruters, Filip Milivojević points out.

He concludes by saying that the reception was carefully designed and that a message of togetherness prevailed, which befits a Christmas gathering at the White House.
