The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has withdrawn the nomination of Mark Brnović for ambassador to Serbia, according to the decision published on the website of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Although Brnović’s appointment and assumption of duty in Belgrade had long been announced and awaited, it ultimately did not happen, and we contacted the former Attorney General of Arizona in an attempt to find out the reasons for such a decision.
Mark Brnović, however, did not want to speak for Serbian Times about the details behind the withdrawal of his nomination for ambassador to Serbia.
“I want to thank the President for the nomination, but as the process dragged on, it became clear that the bureaucracies of the so-called ‘deep state’ did not want someone with my political, ethical, and religious background to serve in Serbia. Ultimately, I believe that staying close to family and friends in Arizona and finding opportunities to play a bigger role on the domestic political scene is the best path at this moment,” Brnović told our portal.
At the end of March, Trump nominated Brnović, a Republican Party member, former state attorney general, and candidate for senator from Arizona, to be ambassador in Belgrade.

INSTEAD OF BELGRADE HEADING TO WASHINGTON? will President Trump offer another position to Mark Brnović
Although the nomination quickly reached the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Brnović never appeared before the body that confirms appointments.
The United States has had no ambassador in Belgrade since January of this year, when Christopher Hill left the position following Trump’s return to the White House.
