In front of the RTS building, which students blocked last night around 11 PM after a host of that media outlet, in a conversation with President Aleksandar Vučić, called them “mob,” it is currently calm.
Students announced that the blockade would last 22 hours, and RTS, despite the building blockade, is broadcasting its program normally.
Guards have formed a human wall and are not allowing employees to enter the building, but anyone who wants to can leave.
As reported by the media, more and more citizens are joining the students in front of RTS, and some spent the entire night with them.
We present to you an overview of the most important events related to the RTS blockade.
HOW DID THE CLASH BETWEEN POLICE AND STUDENTS IN FRONT OF RTS HAPPEN LAST NIGHT?
Police in riot gear broke through the gathered crowd and entered the building through the entrance in Aberdareva Street. In front of that entrance, there were minor clashes between demonstrators and police. One police officer was injured. This is how the police beat students in front of RTS.
WHAT DOES RTS SAY ABOUT THE BLOCKADE?
“We believe this is an attempt to block the work of institutions, which students otherwise advocate against,” it was said on the public service.
RTS: “PREVENTING EMPLOYEES FROM COMING TO WORK IS A PATH TO OPEN CONFLICT”
Radio Television of Serbia published a statement on its website after midnight, which reads as follows: “Radio Television of Serbia states that this blockade is in complete contradiction with the previous statements of the students in the blockade that they advocate for the free work of institutions.
VUČIĆ PUBLISHED A PHOTO WITH THE INJURED POLICE OFFICER AND CALLED THE STUDENTS “BOLSHEVIK PLENARY MEMBERS”
During the general chaos in front of RTS, one off-duty police officer sustained an eye injury.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić published a photo with the injured police officer and stated that he was attacked by “Bolshevik plenary members.”

OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER WAS NOT INJURED BY STUDENTS AFTER ALL
Off-duty police officer Lazar Baćić was, by all accounts, injured by the Gendarmerie while climbing Abardareva Street towards RTS, as shown by videos published on social media. To remind, Baćić’s eye was injured, and President Aleksandar Vučić last night accused students, whom he called “Bolshevik plenary members,” of attacking the police officer.
WHAT DOES THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE SAY?
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) in Belgrade has ordered the police to urgently identify the persons suspected of attacking members of the Gendarmerie and an off-duty police officer who sustained an eye injury in front of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) building last night.
As stated in the announcement, it is suspected that several persons attacked members of the Gendarmerie and hit them from behind while they were approaching the Public Service building to secure RTS.
The Chief Public Prosecutor of VJT in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, appealed to all citizens to refrain from any kind of violence and added that anyone who attacks participants in peaceful protests and who is violent towards members of the police and representatives of state bodies will be prosecuted.
DAČIĆ: “THERE WAS NO POLICE INTERVENTION”
Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić stated that it is not true that the police attacked students and that there was no police intervention at all. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced tonight that police officer Lazar Baćić was attacked in front of the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) building “by Bolshevik plenary members.”
TADIĆ: “THE SITUATION IS DANGEROUS, EVERYONE SHOULD ORGANIZE TO PROTECT STUDENTS AND CITIZENS”
Former Serbian President Boris Tadić spoke on the X network regarding the events in front of RTS. “With the brutal abuse of the Gendarmerie, which beat students and other citizens in front of RTS tonight, Vučić’s regime takes full responsibility for the outcome of the protests in the coming days, including the one on March 15,” Tadić wrote.
VUČIĆ: “VIOLENCE WILL BE UNAVOIDABLE ON MARCH 15”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the current security situation in the country and the region, as well as the “overall aspects” of the student protest announced for March 15 in Belgrade, were discussed at the government session on Monday. In a post on Instagram after the government session, Vučić wrote that he discussed security challenges in Kosovo and Metohija and in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the ministers. “Also, we discussed the overall aspects of the announced protest on March 15. At a time when the security situation in the Balkans is seriously shaken, Serbia is trying to preserve peace and stability, as well as the security of all its citizens,” President Vučić stated. Vučić states that “plans” have already been made and that he expects between 60,000 and 80,000 people to attend the rally on Saturday and that “violence will be unavoidable.”
