“EVERYTHING GOES SLOWLY, THE MEDICINE IS ALWAYS THE SAME”: A Serb living in Sweden lashed out at the healthcare system! (VIDEO)

A young man from Serbia lives and works in Sweden, and on his TikTok profile, he often speaks about life in a different country, and now he has touched upon the topic of the healthcare system.

Sweden is often described as one of the most desirable countries to live in in Europe, attracting thousands of people from the Balkans and across the continent. Nevertheless, although the country looks like an ideal place to live, reality sometimes shows a different side. One young man from Serbia, who lives and works in Sweden, shared his disappointment in the Swedish healthcare system.

Criticism of the Swedish healthcare system

Mladen explained on his TikTok account: “In Sweden, the healthcare system is quite bad. It might sound strange, but it is the reality. Everything functions very slowly, and for most diagnoses, the medicine is—Alvedon. If you aren’t persistent enough, they easily skip over you.”

He adds that the experience at the doctor’s was not even close to being personalized: “I went to the doctor and spent 7 to 10 minutes with him. During that time, I found out where he is from, how many children he has, how many grandchildren, and how long until his retirement. The man is a Balkanite, it doesn’t matter where from. He told me ‘so I don’t examine you for nothing’ and gave me, you know what—Alvedon.”

Hospital standards vs. the tempo of the system

Although he criticizes the medical work, Mladen admits that the hospitals are tidy and hygienically perfect: “It is clean, tidy, and not depressing. But the system as a system and the doctors always have the same answer. God forbid you should need them.”

Audience reactions

His experience sparked heated reactions on social media. While some supported his criticism, others believe that the Swedish healthcare system is one of the best in Europe.
