Olga Danilović looked powerful in her matches against Liudmila Samsonova and Jessica Pegula, securing her place in the top 50 tennis players in the world and finally proving that she deserves to be at the top of the WTA list.

However, the draw was such that in the fourth round of the Australian Open, she met Paula Badosa, currently the 12th ranked player in the world, who was better than our player and won 2-0 (6-1, 7-6(2)).

The impression was that Olga entered the match somewhat timidly. Badosa quickly took a 5-0 lead, and from the beginning of the third to the end of the fifth game, our tennis player managed to win only one point. But she managed to get on the scoreboard and not lose the set with a zero, which at least meant a little in terms of confidence. Badosa served brilliantly and gained an early advantage in sets.

In the second, it was different. Danilović seemed more confident and sharper. Her shots were more penetrating, and Olga managed to break serve right at the start. Badosa returned the favor, but our tennis player took her serve again and then pulled away to 5-2.

Olga served for the set, but that’s when she faltered. Paula returned to the match, Danilović steadied herself and reached a tie-break, but in it, the Spaniard was incomparably better. She quickly reached five match points, converted the second and advanced to the next phase of the first Grand Slam of the season. There, she will meet the winner of the Coco Gauff – Belinda Bencic match.

As for Olga, there is no reason to be sad. The Serbian tennis player has been playing excellently since the end of last season, and she has obviously carried her good form into this year, which can only delight all lovers of “white sport” in this region.
