The canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed around noon today. According to initial information, there are dead and injured.
Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and Minister of Police Ivica Dačić addressed the situation from Novi Sad.
Vučević said that this was one of the most difficult days in the post-war history of Novi Sad.
“A great, terrible tragedy for both Novi Sad and all of Serbia. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and on behalf of all citizens of Serbia, I want to express my condolences to the families of the victims. I want to thank all rescuers, doctors, nurses, and workers of communal enterprises…” said the Prime Minister.
He pointed out that the canopy was built in 1964, and Vučević added that he would insist that those responsible who did not warn about this earlier be found.
