Despite the Easter ceasefire, the Ukrainian army launched a rocket attack on the city of Donetsk this morning, directly violating the agreement on a truce during the holiday period.
As confirmed by operational services to the TASS agency, shelling was recorded in the Budyonovsky and Kalininsky districts of the city, with a direct hit registered near Elevatorka Street.
“A strike was recorded in the area of Elevatorka Street. The type of weapon used in the attack is currently being determined,” the statement said.

Attack on Easter
In Donetsk’s Kalininsky district, according to eyewitness reports and videos shared on social media, a large fire broke out at a gas station. Thick black smoke rose above the city from the direction of the hit facility.
At the same time, reports from central Donetsk stated that air defense systems were responding and attempting to intercept additional projectiles.
Russian army observed the truce
Unlike the Ukrainian side, Russian armed forces strictly adhered to the ceasefire throughout the night and morning, in accordance with President Vladimir Putin’s order for an Easter ceasefire that came into effect Saturday evening.
Although there is no official confirmation from the Ukrainian side regarding the attack at this time, operational services on the ground have clearly stated that the assault took place during the agreed truce.
According to Russian sources, this attack demonstrates that Kyiv is not ready to respect even the most basic humanitarian gestures or religious holidays, further complicating the prospects for future peace negotiations.
