The Serbian basketball team recorded their third victory in the FIBA European Championship qualifiers, this time defeating Denmark on their home court in Copenhagen with a score of 72-52.
From the very beginning of the match, it was clear that coach Svetislav Pešić had assembled a team composed of experienced and young players, just as needed. Avramović, followed by Jović and Koprivica, scored points effortlessly, while the hosts struggled to find the net.
The Eagles’ dominance at the start was evident by the fact that the Danes failed to score in the first five minutes of the game. On the other hand, Serbia played excellently and took a 16-0 lead. Then Denmark interrupted Serbia’s run, but it didn’t help them after the first quarter, as they scored only six points for a 29-6 deficit.
By halftime, coach Pešić made several substitutions, but this did not affect the result. Serbia led 43-19. The second half saw a slightly weaker period for the Eagles. The Danes played better, but a timely timeout by the popular Kari influenced the Serbian players, who stopped their surge and increased their lead.
At the very end, Andersen scored another three-pointer. Another lost ball for Serbia – Jensen steals the ball and slams it home. A mini-series of 5-0 for Denmark for 68-48, but that was all. The hosts managed only to reduce the Eagles’ lead, but not to overturn it. After this victory, Serbia continued its winning streak and now has a record of three wins without a loss.
