The World Aquatics Federation has announced that Serbian national team player Dušan Mandić is the best water polo player in the world for 2024.
The award was delivered to the Serbian representative, a member of the Hungarian Ferencváros, at his home address. The video of Dušan showing off the award went viral in record time, and no wonder, he is the best of the best.
Mandić won his third Olympic gold with Serbia at the Paris Olympics, was the top scorer, and also the MVP of the tournament.
With Ferencváros, he became the champion of Hungary, while for the second time since joining the club, he won the national cup. The club from Budapest was the best in the European Super Cup and then the Champions League.

Dušan Mandić’s family is everything to him
The athlete is in a long and harmonious marriage, and few people know that Dušan Mandić’s wife, Slađana, has been his love since high school. Their love story began in 2012 when Slađana was 18 years old, while Dušan was not yet of legal age as he was four months younger.
I think it’s all a matter of fate, and in our case, the pieces fell into place. We both felt that we were meant for each other – we had common topics, interests, and the impression that we had known each other for a very long time. From this perspective, I can say that our meeting happened thanks to a fortunate coincidence, especially since it is very difficult to meet the right person – Dušan Mandić’s wife told the magazine “Lepota&Zdravlje” at the time.
I never expected him to completely adapt to me, nor did he ask me for anything like that, but we worked together to achieve what was pleasing to both of us. I take on the qualities he likes, and Dušan takes on the ones I like – Slađana pointed out. Dušan and Slađana are parents to two children. In September 2019, they had a daughter, Lenka, and in October 2022, their son Ognjen was born. The successful water polo player will face Spain with our national team in Paris today, and we are sure that Dušan Mandić’s greatest support will be his beautiful wife.
