The best Serbian tennis player, Novak Đoković, defeated Alexander Zverev in the Roland Garros quarter-final match with a score of 3-1 (4-6; 6-3; 6-2; 6-4).

The match on Philippe Chatrier court didn’t start well. Zverev broke serve in the very first game. It turned out that this was enough for him to win the first set. Novak had his only break opportunity in the eighth game to get back into the set, but he failed, and the German took the lead in sets after 46 minutes.

By the end of the first set, it was clear that Novak was raising his level of play. This was evident at the start of the second set. Đoković made his first break of the match in the fourth game. It turned out to be a copy of the first set, where one break decided the set. The second set lasted 53 minutes.

The first four games in the third set were relatively calm, with no lost points for the servers. Then Novak struck first and broke Zverev’s serve. This was the beginning of a big surge in which Đoković strung together five games and won the third set 6-2 in just 35 minutes.

At the very start of the fourth set, Novak made another break and immediately confirmed it, extending his streak to seven consecutive games won.

Zverev had opportunities in the fourth set to get back into the match, especially in the sixth game, when we saw an anthological point precisely when the German had a break opportunity.

The players reached 5-4, and then another drama unfolded on Đoković’s serve. Novak first missed two consecutive match points, then a third, and a fourth.

But not the fifth!
