Novak Djokovic is still a force. With an excellent performance in the first round of the Australian Open, the Serb defeated Spain’s Pedro Martinez 6:3, 6:2, 6:2 and took the first step toward winning his 25th Grand Slam title. This was his jubilee 100th victory in Melbourne. His next opponent will be Italian qualifier Francesco Maestrelli.
Everything went perfectly for the greatest of all time from the very start of the match. Novak’s serve functioned flawlessly, and he did not allow his opponent a single break point. On Martinez’s serve he was constantly aggressive and had break opportunities in almost every game.

The Serb opened the first set brilliantly. He secured a break as early as the second game and took a 3:0 lead. He had four more break points in this part of the match, did not convert them, but that was no problem. He was excellent on his own serve and easily closed out the set in his favor at 6:3.
Nothing changed in the second set either. In the third game Djokovic broke his opponent’s serve, which practically marked the end of this part of the match as well. Novak’s first serve was impeccable. He earned a second break in the seventh game, and then finished the set with three aces and a smash. This was one of Djokovic’s best sets in recent times.

There was only slightly more excitement in the third set. Martinez held on this time until the fifth game. Djokovic then broke his opponent’s serve, took a 3:2 lead and resolved all doubts. How dominant he was on his own serve is shown by the fact that he won all 12 points on his first serve in the first three service games of the third set.
He routinely brought the job to an end, won all the remaining games and recorded another victory at his favorite Grand Slam tournament, where he has lifted the trophy 10 times so far.
