The Serbian music scene has become poorer for another great diva. At the age of 80, Blagica Beti Đorđević, one of the most recognizable jazz and soul singers of the former Yugoslavia and Serbia, has passed away, media reports.
The news of her death has deeply shaken the domestic public, especially since it comes just one day after the death of another great singer, Senka Veletanlić.
Beti Đorđević was born in 1946 in Kumanovo. She entered the music scene at the end of the 1960s and over the decades became a synonym for emotional, powerful performances of jazz and soul in these regions. Her greatest popularity was brought by timeless works such as “Počnimo ljubav ispočetka,” “Kraj moje tuge,” and “Nasloni glavu,” as well as many other hits that marked the lives of generations of listeners.
Blagica Beti Đorđević will be remembered for her angelic voice, elegance, and the deep emotion she brought to every interpretation.
