The Serbian member and chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, met today in Sarajevo with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, together with her delegation.
At the meeting, which was also attended by the other two members of the BiH Presidency, they discussed the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
On that occasion, Cvijanović informed her interlocutors about the position of Republika Srpska regarding what she described as the deepest political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement. She emphasized that the crisis was caused by the imposition of decisions by the illegally appointed High Representative, which were used as a basis for court proceedings against legally elected representatives of the institutions of Republika Srpska.

Cvijanović emphasized that the proceedings against the legitimately elected officials of Republika Srpska represent a clear violation of the rule of law, turning the judicial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina into a tool for political persecution.
She described such practices as unprecedented and completely unacceptable in a democratic society.
During the meeting, Cvijanović reiterated the firm and unequivocal commitment of the institutions of Republika Srpska and its representatives to defend and preserve the constitutional competences of all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
She emphasized that the imposition of decisions by the High Representative, who was not appointed in accordance with Annex 10 of the Dayton Peace Agreement, seriously endangers democratic principles and the proper functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She further emphasized that resolving the current challenges and the political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina requires the cessation of the illegal usurpation of powers by legally elected institutions and the reaffirmation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She emphasized that this can only be achieved through mutual respect and sincere internal dialogue among democratically elected representatives within the framework of domestic institutions. Both sides agreed that solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina should be reached through internal dialogue, with full respect for the Dayton Agreement and the constitutional framework of the country.
Cvijanović also emphasized that peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not threatened and stated that the comments of the Bosniak member of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović, suggesting that Bosniaks could engage in aggression against Serbs, which would lead to the disintegration of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Serbian member and chairwoman of the Presidency expressed gratitude to the OSCE Mission and Chairwoman Valtonen for their understanding and continued support in the implementation of numerous projects throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
