The breakup of the relationship between Ana Ivanović and Bastian Schweinsteiger was one of the main topics of 2025.

Ana and Schweini will divorce after nine years of marriage, and according to German media reports, Bastian will have to pay his former love a substantial amount in alimony.

The court allegedly issued a swift ruling, ordering Bastian to pay €15,000 per child per month, which amounts to more than half a million euros annually—specifically €540,000.

– After the divorce, Bastian Schweinsteiger will have to finance the luxurious lifestyle of his beloved in Mallorca. The former sports power couple lives in luxury, and how much money is needed for their sons became clear during court proceedings in Mallorca following their divorce. The judge set monthly child support at €15,000 per child, more than half a million euros per year. That is roughly equivalent to nine average gross annual salaries for full-time employees in Germany – writes the portal Bunte.

Ana Ivanović lives in Spain with her sons Luka (8), Leon (5), and Theo (2), and the aforementioned portal further explains the court’s decision:

– The court justified the unusually high alimony payments by Bastian Schweinsteiger’s substantial financial resources and the living expenses the children had before the divorce. According to the court, the Ivanović–Schweinsteiger family spent between €6,000 and €7,000 per month on food alone. The court took into account the costs of a gardener, a cook, and two cleaners, as well as the fact that each child has a nanny. Schweini’s high income was also considered, which the court noted is difficult to determine because the former World Cup winner pays taxes in Germany.

The divorce itself could prove more complicated than the alimony proceedings, German media report.

– This is suggested by certain parts of Spanish court documents, which, for example, mention an alleged lover of Bastian Schweinsteiger. Such details are legally irrelevant to alimony proceedings, but lawyers sometimes deliberately use them to exert moral pressure on the opposing party. Sometimes a party wants to vent anger, but even if facts are presented, they carry no legal weight. It is unclear what will happen in this case—whether the divorce will be amicable or followed by a dispute. It will likely become clear during the court proceedings in Munich – the additional explanation states.
