The Higher Court in Kraljevo has ordered up to 30 days of detention for D.R. (50) and M.R. (42), who are suspected of allegedly planning the murder of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and members of his family. Their detention was ordered to prevent them from repeating the criminal offense, completing an attempted crime, or committing the crime they are accused of threatening.
They are suspected of committing the criminal offense of preparing an act against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, in connection with the criminal offense of attacking the constitutional order. According to the Ministry of Interior, they allegedly conspired from December of last year until February of this year to violently change Serbia’s constitutional order and overthrow the highest state authorities.
They allegedly discussed procuring weapons and carrying out an attack on the life and body of the President of Serbia, his wife, and children, by depriving them of life, as well as attacking members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia by inflicting bodily injuries on them.
This is not the first time that the judiciary, at the request of the current authorities, has accused individuals or groups of similar criminal offenses; however, none of the proceedings so far have resulted in a conviction.
