Lawyer Ivan Ninić announced that the case of the imprisoned Bogdan Jovićić, a student of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, who is in the Special Prison Hospital, has been internationalized.
“The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has accepted to consider the appeal of his lawyer, so they could issue a temporary measure in a short period of time,” Ninić wrote on the social network X.
“That would be Bogdan’s great victory over tyranny,” Ninić added.
In the announcement, Ninić added that the judge P. Roosma (case Jovičić v. Serbia no. 28939/25) in a letter today called on Bogdan to end the hunger strike while the decision-making process in Strasbourg is ongoing, which Bogdan did.
The Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions announced earlier that “the imprisoned person B.J. today ended his hunger strike in the Special Prison Hospital in Belgrade and that he is in good general condition.”
As they stated, all medical protocols that are introduced for people who do not eat have been applied in the case of B.J. in this health institution, where he was under the supervision of doctors all the time.
Bogdan Jovičić was placed in the Special Prison Hospital in Belgrade on September 17, after he decided on September 12 to go on a hunger strike in the detention unit of the District Prison in Novi Sad, due to, as he stated in a written statement, dissatisfaction with the work of the court.
Let’s remember, Bogdan was detained on August 15 on suspicion of participating in the demolition of the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and was remanded in custody for the second time for up to 30 days.
During his stay in custody, Bogdan’s father died, to whose funeral he was brought late, with handcuffs on his legs, which caused public indignation. The administration then announced that the procedure had been respected.
A petition for the release of the student of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Bogdan Jovićić, has so far been signed by 64,000 citizens, and a large protest is scheduled for tomorrow, September 24, in front of the District Prison in Belgrade, starting at 7 p.m.
