CLASH BETWEEN POLICE AND CITIZENS IN ZAJEČAR: Protesters blocked the work of the City Assembly, tear gas was used! (VIDEO)

Citizens of Zaječar are blocking the work of the City Assembly and trying to enter the building, but a large number of police in riot gear are present at the entrance. There was a physical confrontation between the police and the demonstrators, and tear gas was also used against them, Nova S reporter reports. The police then formed a cordon in front of the building, and the session was postponed.

“The people have gathered because they want to say enough to this harmful government that makes decisions. There will be no digging, there will be no mining, and everything indicates that the decisions made in the City Assembly are harmful. There are many people here, but we were met by people with shields, and behind them is a police cordon in special equipment. Citizens tried to enter, but pushing started. There are also injured people. They sprayed pepper spray. There is no going back. We have been brought to a situation where we have to fight in this way. The people have said enough,” said MP Dragana Rašić.

The glass at the entrance, where the porter’s lodge is, was broken. The councilors of the ruling party managed to enter.

A large cordon of police in riot gear is present.

Before 9 o’clock, citizens and the opposition began to gather because the 26th session was supposed to start at 10 o’clock.

In front of the city administration, a part of the opposition councilors was pushed out together with members of the security.

A large number of citizens around 10:30 are still here in front of the municipality, that is, in front of the city administration building in Zaječar. After it was announced that the session was postponed, they went to the other entrance to the building.

Until recently, citizens were throwing eggs at the city administration building. They also brought red paint which they want to pour on the police officers.

Citizens and councilors say that private security is also present.
